Literature

Literature and reading are very popular in South Korea. Bookstores are extremely popular shopping spots and will often be the centerpiece for a shopping area. Kyobo Bookstore is one of the largest in Korea.

The most popular books for adults are often translations of foreign books as well as locally written works. Poetry is very popular in South Korea with young adults as well.

Children are literally obsessed with forms of comic books in South Korea. A bit different then conventional US comics, these are often the length of books. Children rent them from shops much the same way we rent movies from the store. In fact the shop where you rent movies in Korea is often the same place children go to rent books. Guess which area of the shop is often more popular?
