Music and Dance in Japan

Japan has a extensive music and dance scene which visitors and ESL teachers have come to appreciate deeply over the years. Memoirs of a Geisha brought some of the traditional musical tastes and dances to the world to see. Modern clubs throughout Japan have inspired new musical trends that have spread around the world.

Fashion and music in Japan are the most closely linked that we at Teaching in Asia are aware of. Much like the United States, the music you like inspires the clothes that you wear and the mannerisms you display. Dancing ranges from the traditional past to the modern hip hop and techno. There is something for everyone in Japan.

ESL teachers that go to Japan able to dance will find ample competition while there, while others that will learn will have great teachers. Take the time to experience several of the traditional dances in Japan as they will enhance your appreciation of Japanese culture and history.
